michillinda lodge wedding

West olive, mi | Laura + Kyle

This was my first time shooting at Michillinda Lodge and it did not disappoint. It holds the cutest camp vibes, tucked up along the edge of Lake Michigan. I have shot a couple “camp” weddings recently where the bride and grooms friends and family were able to stay the weekend onsite and it creates such a unique and fun vibe for the wedding day.

Laura had the most spectacular vision for her day. Vibrant jewel toned colors, with whimsical florals and even some streamers. It was chic, bold, eclectic, inviting, and colorful. Kyle sported a blush pink suit, which, let me tell you, more grooms need to think out of the style box and try something bold like this. It complimented Lauras blush pink tulle cape that set off her stunning wedding dress so well. On top of that, Laura sported the most stunning mohawk bridal hair. This might have been one of her favorite details, which brought her to tears when seeing it.

I could go on forever about this day…these two together were fire.

A few words from Laura and Kyle on their wedding day at Michillinda Lodge:

“When Kyle and I began planning our wedding  we agreed on one thing right away. We needed a venue that allowed us to be surrounded by the people that loved us,  shaped us and supported us. Having our friends and family with us for the entire weekend made it feel like the celebration it was. Kyle and I got married later in life and we had a full life before joining ours and we wanted this to be represented in all areas of the weekend. Michillinda allowed us to bring in our own unique ideas and so many talented people to help bring our vision and love to life.

Our weekend was everything we could have imagined. The rain stopped and the sun came out just in time for the ceremony which made it clear our loved ones in heaven were right there with us. I loved seeing the colors, and there were a lot, all come together to make our day  bright with love, laughter, delicious desserts and chill house music!  People often asked my favorite part and I can honestly say I loved every single minute from the moment I woke up to Lake Michigan until I went to bed after we danced the night away at our after party.

Advice for future couples getting married:

“The single piece of advice I would give to couples planning is to make your day all your own. Make it truly your vision. Bring the unique love that you and your partner have and make the story of the day true to you and I promise it will be beautiful.”
