why have a sunrise engagement session | midwest wedding photographer

Jackson, MIChigan | Emily + Conor

if you are anything like me, mornings are not really your friend, however there are a couple things that will get me up in the morning without the grumbling. food definitely being one of them…but we are not here to talk about my love for food. we are here to talk about why you should consider having a sunrise engagement session. I know I know. that means you may have to be waking up at the butt crack of dawn…but trust me. its worth it for all that buttery light.

speaking of light, when you opt for a sunrise engagement session vs a sunset engagement session…you are gaining more and more light as the shoot progresses instead of racing the clock before its all gone. that means you can take it slow and have a relaxing morning of me making you whisper sweet nothings in each others ear.

mornings just feel calm. have you ever woke up early to watch the sunrise. all snuggled up in a blanket, drinking something hot. its just so ahhhh. not to mention, it feels sooo good to have an excuse to crawl back in bed when its all over. you woke up early, you deserve it!!

if you shooting in a busy location, much like I do when shooting engagements in an industrial or city setting, you avoid a lot of the chaos. when doing a sunset session, most of the time its right when people are getting off work or running out for dinner or to walk their dog. if you shoot when the sun is rising, all of those people are still chillin in bed.

if we schedule your engagement session in one of the hotter months, a sunrise engagement session can help to avoid those hot and humid temps we make face if we shoot at sunset. you will thank me when you dont have a glowing upper lip ;)

I definitely saved the best reason for last. breakfast. if you shoot with me in the morning you best believe we are heading out for breakfast after! can someone say breakfast burrito???

Emily and Conor chose to shoot with me early in the morning in downtwon jackson michigan in front of some murals, which if you know me is totally my jam. if all you look at is the first image, you will know that it was a freaking good choice!

the eastern detroit downtown warehouse wedding

detroit, michigan | lauren + matthew

the eastern detroit near downtown detroits eastern market is an industrial wedding photographers dream. A warehouse with open ceiling and exposed brick walls cant be beat. not only that but laurens decor vision was absolutely on point. from the matte black goblets, to the pampas grass center pieces, to the beautiful copper arbor, laurens florist, detroit design co, absolutely killed her vision. if you want to know how to kill some industrial, yet soft reception decor, first hire detroit design co, and then check out laurens designs. her dress was stunning as well. the scallop lace details on the sleeves were so perfectly intricate, and her wedding dress even had a detachable skirt….i mean come on people!!

I may be a little bit biased because matthew is my cousin, but the whole day was so stunning and even with the rain we were able to get some pretty awesome downtown detroit portraits. if you missed their engagement session, check it out because its probably my favorite.

midwest wedding at morton arboretum

lisle, illinois | karlee + mark

this year went so fast! traveling all over the midwest, photographing weddings while learning the ropes at being a new mom looks a little different these days. who knew you would need to schedule in time to pump at a wedding. all of my couples have been so chill and understanding and I couldnt have asked for anything more!

speaking of chill…that defines karlee and mark (on top of ridiculously ridiculously good looking). karlee was dying to have an outdoor ceremony, and if you have seen morton arboretum you totally understand why, but the forecast had other plans. the park ranger (yes they have a park ranger) insisted we move it inside and thank goodness we did because the sky opened as soon as karlee walked down the aisle.

if i could bottle up the way mark looked at karlee i would. he would steal hand kisses and just hold her whenever he got the urge. it was presh.

luckily the rain stopped at soon as the ceremony was over and we were able to get some amazing couples portraits throughout the arboretum.

planterra conservatory wedding

midwest wedding photographers. if you are on the hunt for a detroit conservatory wedding venue, planterra conservatory is it. surrounded by luscious trees, you will feel you've been transported to the jungle. there is something about conservatory weddings that feel so magical. some of my favorite photos ive ever shot have been in greenhouses and conservatories. on top of planterra being an amazing venue, christie put so much thought into every detail and when it got dark you felt like you were in a beauty and the beast movie. on top of that, anthony is from australia so everywhere you turned you heard those australian accents….the best :)
