grand rapids provin trails forest engagement

grand rapids, michigan | sarah + caleb

its been almost two and a half years since we moved to grand rapids, but it feels way less than that. its been so fun exploring new places in the city for engagement sessions. provin trials is a prime location for all things forest photos. sarah and caleb are great friends of ours and have headed off to adventure california, but before they left we wanted to squeeze in a little anniversary session! we woke up at the butt crack of dawn and headed to provin trails forest for a boho sunrise session.

midwest wedding at morton arboretum

lisle, illinois | karlee + mark

this year went so fast! traveling all over the midwest, photographing weddings while learning the ropes at being a new mom looks a little different these days. who knew you would need to schedule in time to pump at a wedding. all of my couples have been so chill and understanding and I couldnt have asked for anything more!

speaking of chill…that defines karlee and mark (on top of ridiculously ridiculously good looking). karlee was dying to have an outdoor ceremony, and if you have seen morton arboretum you totally understand why, but the forecast had other plans. the park ranger (yes they have a park ranger) insisted we move it inside and thank goodness we did because the sky opened as soon as karlee walked down the aisle.

if i could bottle up the way mark looked at karlee i would. he would steal hand kisses and just hold her whenever he got the urge. it was presh.

luckily the rain stopped at soon as the ceremony was over and we were able to get some amazing couples portraits throughout the arboretum.

grand rapids park engagement

trust. ive said it once and ill say it a million times. couples who trust their photographer are literally the best. i told these two to meet me at a local grand rapids park. however, after driving to said park, me, being the weirdo that i am, found cooler run down janky places along the way that i liked better. so i called them up, sent them a pin and said to meet me on the side of the road. and what did they do…they just said ok!

we did make it to the park, but there is a special place in my heart for discolored walls, chain link fences, and overgrown weeds and i am grateful for people like kaitlyn and jack who go with my vision. just wait till you see their Camp Blodgett wedding…coming soon :)

detroit scarab club 20s inspired wedding

Detroit, Michigan | nicole + Joshua

there is nothing better than a unique wedding venue and the scarab club definitely qualifies.  the detroit scarab club was founded by a group of artists and art lovers who wanted a place to socialize and disucss art!  i mean come on. is there anything cooler than that?!  like speak to my artist soul please!!  the inside is a blast from the past and transports you to another era, which i am totally in to and the back has the most adorable courtyard!!  detroit is surrounded by so much art and culture and is such an inspiring atmosphere to create images in!

more detroit. yes please
